Three Firsts in One Year

"In addition to starting a new job this past year, I set my athletic goals high and signed up for the 2009 IRONMAN Wisconsin. Athletics have always been a large part of my life and I was looking for a new challenge. Being a nurse with an unpredictable schedule, I knew that I would need to find some coaching assistance to help plan my race season. After finding Jessica/SBR online, I met with her to discuss the season and my ultimate goal of completing Ironman. Jessica worked systematically to create an all encompassing and flexible training plan for me to follow each week. We also worked together early on to develop a sound nutrition/fueling plan for long training days and ultimatly for Ironman."

"If you are ready and willing to put the time into training, Jessica will help you achieve your goals. "

"If you are ready and willing to put the time into training, Jessica will help you achieve your goals. This year I completed my FIRST half marathon, my FIRST half ironman, and my FIRST ironman. I could not have had a better Ironman day! Jessica was incredibly supportive throughout the season and answered all my questions related to training, race preparation, ect. I totally recommend the coaching services offered through SBR!"

From "Ordinary Joe" to Ironman

"I’ve had a dream to complete an Ironman going back to when I used to watch the Kona race on TV every year as a teenager. Each time I watched the event unfold on the screen in front of me, I couldn’t keep the tears from streaming down my face as the coverage moved from the elite pros to the “average Joes” struggling to get to the finish line. As an average Joe, I was determined to one day experience that journey.

As the years went by and life included three kids, a mortgage, and all the responsibilities that come with being a husband, father, and small business owner, that dream went on the “back burner.” It seemed unrealistic to think I could inject a training program into my life that would get me to that finish line without compromising my relationships and responsibilities, especially when I had no triathlon experience.

"That perspective changed when I was referred to Jessica Laufenberg. She spent time getting to know me, my family, my lifestyle and my goals."

That perspective changed when I was referred to Jessica Laufenberg. She spent time getting to know me, my family, my lifestyle and my goals. With a solid understanding of who I was and what I was all about, she crafted a custom training program that fit my schedule and was “marriage-tested.” More importantly, Jessica was with me every step of the way as I navigated through a program that included sprint, Olympic, and half-Ironman triathlon events. It was difficult, and yet I was always ready for the next step and I was always in control.

Thanks in large part to Jessica’s coaching, I crossed the finish line at Ironman Wisconsin after an amazing day! Not only did I finish, but my training allowed me to really enjoy the experience…soaking up the crowds, the incredible volunteer support, and the positive energy from other athletes. Except for a few of those tough miles on the run, I think I had a smile on my face the entire time.

Thanks, Jessica. I am an Ironman!

Ultra-distance Athlete Refined

"After completing two back to back Ironman's in 2006-2007, I decided to take a year off from triathlons and focus just on my running, specifically qualifying for the Boston Marathon and improving in my second 100-mile ultra-marathon. I contacted Jessica at SBR in seek of some assistance, specifically, refining my running gait as well as to maximize my current training workouts via several VO2 Max tests. I knew that if I wanted to excel to the next level, I needed to supplement my training with someone who had running expertise and knowledge of kinesiology."

"Jessica and her extensive education and background in exercise physiology quickly identified and corrected a few flaws in my running gait."

"Jessica and her extensive education and background in exercise physiology quickly identified and corrected a few flaws in my running gait through a series of strengthening, stretching, and muscle memory techniques. My body was now much better positioned to handle the pounding of a 100-mile ultra-marathon which left me much less pain in my knees and back. Her use and knowledge of using tools such as VO2 Max paid off huge dividends in my Boston qualifying attempt, which was nine minutes faster than my previous four marathons."

"Jessica provided the sport-specific edge I was looking for. I was excited to finally qualify for Boston with a 3:12 and take 1st overall in the Mc Naughton Park Trail 100-miler Ultra, some 2.5 hours faster than the previous year."

Keeping in Stride

"Having injured a glute with a tear almost two years ago, I never healed properly and was mostly in some degree of discomfort throughout both hip areas while running."

"Since using the services provided by Jessica at SBR, I am now more comfortable than ever during my runs and have since logged PR's in my last two running events."

"However, after an evaluation by Jessica at SBR, she began a stretching program along with follow-up exercises that focused on the areas of my glutes that had no doubt atrophied over time. Throughout the initial period of the program, she was able to increase the overall range of motion and relieve the discomfort. Also in her evaluation, Jessica was able to provide insight and corrective actions that helped me in my stride."

Athletic Rehab

"After being diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff, Jessica had me do some simple rehab for it. After a few minutes, she told me that I don't have anything wrong with my rotator cuff. Instead, she said, I had a muscle behind my shoulder blade that had gone into spasm. Within one hour, she had my arm rotation going from 120 degrees to 360 degrees. She has an amazing sensibility on how the athletic body works and common problems that can occur."

"The hardest part of becoming athletic is finding the right trainer who can take you to where you want to go. Jessica Laufenberg is one of those rare individuals who is an expert at all aspects of coaching & training."

"I always credit Laufenberg for my huge improvements in my running. In one year, her coaching helped cut my marathon time by 35 minutes! Every personal record I held was being beaten after she began helping me. Her gait analysis and coaching tips helped become a much more efficient runner."

"Jessica also lends herself into a great mentor role. She always makes herself available to answer any questions, she asks about the important athletic events and she takes the time to help correct any mistakes. She's an accomplished athlete who doesn't dwell on her past performances, but what she can accomplish in the future. This applies to herself and to any who she coaches."

Ironman Success

"After not finishing my first Ironman under 17 hours, I knew I had to do something different the second time around. I heard about Jessica from a co-worker. After meeting with her I found out how knowledgeable she was about swimming, biking, running, triathlons and strength training."

"I was able to drop over an hour off of my previous Ironman time."

"Jessica coached me this past year and I was able to drop over an hour off of my previous Ironman time. Jessica is truly inspirational and has a lot of experience, both as a coach and as a competitor. I can't wait to have her coach me for my next event! Thanks for everything Jessica!"

Thank You

"Thanks to the SBR Coaching studio, I was able to begin my first Ironman training season in January of 2007. Three days a week, I would go to SBR and ride on one of their computrainers two to three days per week. I loved being back on my bike after a few months lay off due to Wisconsin winters. What I loved even more was the knowledge Jessica and her staff have on the biomechanics of cycling and sport."

"I equate the success I had at my first ever Ironman in Wisconsin this year fully to that work done with Jessica Laufenberg at SBR Coaching."

"After several months of indoor cycling my pedal efficiency had improved DRAMATICALLY. What was even more shocking was how much my running gait improved from applying tips from Jessica and her staff. I equate the success I had at my first ever Ironman in Wisconsin this year fully to that work done with Jessica Laufenberg at SBR Coaching."
